do any of you guys camp on site for track (not rv)? curious how the logistics go. if it's just me and not the gf and dog, i bet i could manage no problem. my hotel bills are as high as my gas bills for these trips and half the time the hotel sucks anyway
Yes, entirely depends on how comfortable you are camping. The GF and I go on a few camping trips a year so we decided to pick up a roof tent for those and track weekends. The weave is super thick, has a bunch of netted privacy windows, a built in king size 3" foam mattress and built in lights. Setup takes like 10-15 minutes.
well... asm is pretty sure i've got an engine failure on my hands. engine's making a clacking very similar to ben's evo when he had a wrist pin failure.
sad thing is i didnt even get to drive the car. i picked it up after new cams, loaded it up the trailer, and had tom o'gorman give it a spin. apparently cut boost, cut timing, and we're just dealing with it now.

maybe also relevant. These are all the timing marks lined up.
When my tensioner failed, I jumped a tooth. I was able to diagnose that by attempting to align the marks as shown above, and the exhaust cam did not line up.

but if it were off, it wouldn't have run fine the last couple laps? unless u think it jumped?
Well in my case it sounded like bad lifter tick, but I otherwise didn't notice much of a change in how it drove (commuting). At first I proceeded to diagnose it as if it was lifter tick. After discovering it had jumped a tooth, I pulled the timing cover and found the guts of the tensioner down by the crank. What I thought was lifter tick turned out to be valves contacting pistons.
tbh, that just makes more sense to me. i know the racefab and kiggly and stuff isnt infallible, but it just seems crazy to think a wristpin or something suddenly failed. i realize it's possible and the car is pushed hard no doubt, but just right after the cams like this, after being zero issue powertrain wise... idk
It's pretty quick and straight forward to check the cam timing. No special tools or anything required. My guess is I could probably do it in 10-15 minutes. Unless I'm forgetting a step or something.
Sorry for your engine troubles kyoo. Part of the reason I've been slow AF putting everything together is because so much is changed I don't want to find out what all goes wrong.
I have my subframe out right now....thinking of switching back to OEM swaybar bushing and maybe steering rack bushing. Mainly because the whiteline poly stuff has been squeaky. Does anyone think they I'll really miss poly bushings in these areas?
