When you turn the AC on do you get any cool air blowing? Does the AC fan at the radiator kick on? If you have someone hit the AC button while you're watching/listening in the engine bay do you hear it engage or anything (make sure you're not in defrost since that will turn on AC regardless)

could be the blue wire to engage the compressor, just behind the radiator

Removing the intake manifold is close to where the AC lines enter through the firewall. Its likely there is a leak at the AC line. A shop can easily diagnose a leak or recharge the AC if possible.

Working on my gearbox after the 4th gear popping.
Luckily not too much damage, will be able to salvage!

Disassembled and laid out - so I dont forget the order

Gotta strip and clean the front diff because the gearbox oil feeds into the front LSD. MFactory unit for Evo 4-6 Transfer case.

Most of the pieces were sitting in the bottom of the box, thank goodness. Some scratches on the casing from the centre diff drive gear picking up pieces.

4th gone!

New clusters finished assembly after cleaning and inspection.

NEAT Gearboxes (AU) 4th gear upgrade. Coarse helical profile, OEM drop in/swap. Less helical angle for extra strength and less thrust loading too.

Those teeth look beefy on the 4th gear.

this top connection is the only thing that connects the compressor right? it's still connected, and I checked the low line and it still has pressure, so unless there's something on the back of the compressor, I'm at a bit of a loss. worked before the dropoff, and doesn't work now, but not the connection or the refrigerant. what else is there?

Could it be the a/c compressor clutch? That's a notorious spot of failure. iirc mitsu sold a fix/overhaul kit of the air gap. May have even been a tsb.

that plug is for this: MR460110 I think there is one for the clutch too?

at the moment, I'm ruling out failure due to it working before I dropped off the car for a few jobs (intake mani, exhaust mani, downpipe, knock sensor, retune) and immediately not working afterwards.

Thanks. Gonna be such a pita to get to with the oil pan in the way too..

wasn't the compressor. the thing was just completely empty. they filled it up and added dye, and no leaks as far as they can see with their system. a bit of a mystery but i'll take it

all good. ac working without issue after the refill.

If you disconnect a line on a charged AC system it makes a ****ing mess. Guarantee they didn't do that.

They either evac'ed the system (for no reason, the work you had done didn't require it), or your AC had been non-op already and you didn't know.
