Interestingly enough, and I have lots of RS discussions with my friend alpina, over here the RS models were bought mostly to be transformed into rallycars and they were significantly cheaper than the "normal" models. Some were used as training cars, and they did not have much of an everyday driver rep because of the short gearing. These days RS models are all the rage... hahaahaha
so, how do i import one, and how much do they go for? LOL

the 9s are still faster overall right? maybe another 9 with ayc may not be a bad addition either

surprisingly expensive actually. must be due to rarity. i guess i just hear a lot of stories about "legendary" cars chilling in lots and sold for single digit thousands in Japan

Slower or not, I think a VI would be more fun to own. Just for the Heck of it.

Was bought recently(maybe few days ago) by the youtube drifter @something_jz .... Evo 6/TME RS has short gearbox ratios, tops at 135mph or so, has no ABS, and in order to stuff enough tire for today's track - competitiveness (295s all around) you have to cut it.

Issue is that once you throw interior out, cage it, such a RHD car in LHD country is rather hard to enjoy.

Evo 5/6/TME are beasts of the road. Evo 8/9 is better track option because body lends itself more to big tires, and there is no concern with value etc.

So you need the LHD Evo 5/6, preferably one without cage, with interior, to have pleasant environment with adequate NVH level.
Race cars with cage, gutted, are atrocious road cars.

Agreed. The "other" car would be the mountain trip car, standard evo, gtr, c8, etc. This would be more for that small track rat that dominates. If one got the car down to the sub 2750 mark as raced you wouldn't need 295's so it would likely work out. Now an R34 on the other hand I would likely NOT gut lol. HP academy had several videos of some at WTAC but they just couldn't hang.

Not really. Reliability issues galore. AWD failures, engine failures on hard braking, weight issues, etc. Best to leave something THAT rare as a mid level street car. There was a video of a jap aftermarket tour of places like HKS etc and in one of them they had a full tilt skyline build but stuffed a 2j into it instead of an RB for said reasons.

That'll take too much time lol. Basically same issue we have, design of the sump. Cured by dry sumping...mostly.

Why aim so low?

I see the Subaru guys are mounting 335s now.

Most of those guys are doing 335s on 12" wheels and I dont think thats an upgrade on a 12" wheel when pushing the size. The guys on 13" wheels tho... I can do 335s, but It will take a coilover change to work.

The miata guys at ~2000lbs are bumping up to 295s with success as long as they can heat them a bit.

Man that TME is beautiful. I'd love to own one, but the rarity and value would mean leaving it basically stock and just taking it out on perfect days. More collector oriented. As you guys mentioned though, a 5/6 would be another great car and you wouldn't feel guilty modifying and thrashing it.
