Setting the limiter at 7800rpm was enough for about 65mph at the top of second with a 25.3" diameter tire, I had it there for years and no issues with the motor and I would ride the limiter quite a bit - 179k miles on the original engine, never opened up.

Hi, I've been autocrossing and doing time trials/track days on and off for about 17 years now. Looks like I'll have a bit more time and resources the next couple of years so I may start taking it a bit more seriously.
Car is a 2014 Evo X GSR with the following mods:
  • Hotchkis 32mm tubular rear sway bar
  • Hotchkis rear end links
  • Eiback Pro-Kit lowering springs
  • H&R camber bolt for front
  • SSR GT-X01 wheels, 18x9.5 offset +22
  • Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R tire 265/35R18
  • Hawk HPS brake pads
  • Stoptech slotted rotors
  • ATE Typ200 brake fluid
  • K&N Typhoon air filter
  • AMS catted test pipe
  • Tomei Expreme Ti cat back exhaust
  • Cobb Accessport
  • e-tune from Chet Rickerman
I already ordered these a while ago, waiting for shipment
  • Ohlins DFV from Works with 11k/11k springs
  • Titanium brake pad shims from Yperion
Besides the obvious practice, seat time and wheel alignment, what else would you recommend? I'd like to stay in STU for autocross and Tuner 3 for time trials. I have a few items on my wish list:
  • Brake cooling guides or brake ducts
  • Steel brake lines
  • Wider wheels and tires - EDIT: Time Trials rules don't allow wider tires than 265 in T3 class
  • Intercooler + lower piping (already have upper piping with K&N intake)
  • Engine mounts
  • Suspension bushings where allowed
  • AMS downpipe
  • Rear differential
  • Lighter front strut bar
  • Front sway bar - probably no need
  • Rear strut bar
  • Lighter battery
I'd appreciate any feedback, suggestions, ideas...

Yeah I think you have a list of good parts there. I think the biggest thing I would focus on if I had that chassis, is to fit a set of 295 A052's all the way around for STU. Preferably on a 11" wheel? I know the X's can fit tire under the body - just unsure if they are limited in wheel size in the rear - like the 8/9.

Thanks, I agree wider tires may yield the most gain. There are many threads discussing what's the widest wheel+tire combo fitting the X with only fender rolling and aggressive camber, and it sounds like 285 on 10.5" wheels is comfortable. I'll have to do more research when it's time.

Looks like it!

Like I mentioned earlier - it's the widest 285 I've mounted compared to the RT660 and CR1/CRS.

I also now see that Bridgestone just came out with a 295/30/18 size as well...

Agreed. Seems most 295/30/18's are at 25.1" OD...

Day 1 of the Mid Divs video here! Unfortunately - there was definitely time left out there. Seriously missed 3rd gear hard a couple times at the finish - so there was a couple tenths on that alone according to Solo Storm. Still happy with the run for the most part. Car felt great. How about the car placement at 49 seconds?

Day 2 video to come!

The 2022 Midwest Divisionals are complete! I'm beyond tired as it was a sunny/hot weekend but the evo preformed quite well. I know there were a couple mistakes that left some tenths out there both days. The biggest issue was on Day 2 - there were so many runs not getting recorded, thus people getting reruns.

Well, on my 2nd run on Day 2 - the car felt pretty on point. As I was crossing the line - I was hoping for a 53.XXX. When coming to the finish - the timing board is right there. I crossed the line and it was showing a 53 from what I could tell - yet the timing board kept on rolling. For whatever reason, the run got recorded as a 68.XXX which wasn't correct. We tried to get a rerun - I had my buddy who was working audit check to see if I was going to get one. They said they don't have evidence for me to get one and that I'd get faster on my next runs. Not the answer I wanted to hear. Unfortunately, I couldn't replicate that time and ended with a 54.0XX for the day. Solo storm approximate guess would be a 53.6/53.7 ish for that non-recorded run. Such is life.

I'm not getting as much throttle on rotation as I'd like. The RE71R rear tires seem to have a good amount of grip so I might try going up a notch or two in spring rate to see how that impacts things. But I feel like the car is faster than last year. Have to take this with a grain of salt since I essentially "knew" these two courses since they were the East/West courses from last years nationals - but if the 53.6 run would have stood - that would put the car over a second faster than the year prior. Progress has been made - now I just need to focus on minimizing the little mistakes that are costing me a tenth or two here and there!

Overall PAX. The top times that were crossed out were individuals who only ran 1 day - so that's not correct. Ended up 7th overall for the weekend:

Day two video (the fastest run that didn't count):

Nice runs there. So jealous you have that home court advantage running that lot locally.

The Tsang's are in Carpenters old car and super fast this year. I think it'll be a battle at the top with you, Tsang's, and Zerr.

For rear spring, basically if you don't think you need less then you need more. Its the biggest lever to add rotation and front grip.
