Hey Eve-
Here's Soeren's cousin. Thanks for letting me ride with you on a few laps around Spa. I think I hopped in immediately after you made this video. Those slicks certainly grip in the corners. How's your fifth gear holding out? I'm going to try and come back next year if all works out. Good luck with your racing.

That's my definition of a high speed course! Were you mostly in 4th & 5th? What was top speed? Also, it looked extremely dangerous in that there was minimal runoff before concrete walls, Armco, trees, etc. Your lines suggested you had been there before.

Stocky is much more experienced than I on many tracks in Europe. I was only a passenger a couple of weeks ago with a friend for 10-15 laps each at three tracks in three days around Spa, the Nurburgring and Hockenheim. You are correct that much of the time at Spa is spent in 4th and 5th gears. In my opinion, Spa is quite safe though. Most of the areas with the close guard rails are not tight turns. They are on straightaways coming out of turns where you are trying to out accelerate the competition. In the areas where you are making hard turns, there are large runoff areas with pea gravel on the outside of the turns. Of course, if you completely loose it and head back toward the inside of the turn, you'll get to meet "Mr. Guardrail". While I was riding with Stocky near the end of the day (and the concentration of many drivers was down), four cars (most if not all were rear-engine Porsches) spun off the track in a matter of six turns. Only one guy, that Stocky stopped to check on, had made contact with the inside guard rail. All others were safely stuck in the outside turn pea gravel.

The track that I would say can be very dangerous when driving aggressively, unless you really know what you're doing, is the 20.8km long (55+ turns, not sure of exact number) Nurburgring north course (Nordschleife). The track layout was originally built in 1927 but has a new surface over 99% of the course. There are a couple of banked U-turns, the Carousel and Swallows Tail that still have the original concrete from the 20's. There is little or no runoff area on the entire course. If you come into a turn to fast, you can quickly find yourself hitting a large metal guardrail. Adding to the difficulty are many blind hills where you can't see what's on the other side. If you know the course well you can take a couple of these hills, as we did, at full throttle and fly the car. Also the Nordschleife course is so long that track conditions can vary quite a bit from one area to another if you have the frequent overcast conditions with chance of rain. If you get out of shape on this course, you have a good chance of totaling your car.

Those are just my two bits from a passenger's perspective.

Sounds awesome/terrifying, especially "flying the car "(is that why it has a wing?). I have done a number of tracks in the Midwest, but nothing compares to those two. Nurburing is unique.

Damn, that's not so expensive considering boat is ~ $1200 and you have to wait for ages till it sails out (gets full) and arrives and till you can pick it up.
Awesome deal if you got it even cheaper
Good luck the car, keep posting those videos!
