Why not upgrade to a IX turbo? I assume you can't upgrade the o2 housing due to auto-x class rules, but are you at least porting/coating the hotside stuff?

Evo IX turbo would put me into a higher class. I'm running TTB on street tires for 2013. Got to keep it stock as possible. I actually have the Megan O2 housing that's going to be installed. It counts as exhaust mod so turbo back it's all considered same points, except for cat delete or mod is extra points. Not sure about porting, will coat everything next season.

Fixed the email lol

Hmmm, must be different auto-x rules than I knew back in when I used to compete. I thought the IX turbo was OK on VIII's since it was a factory upgrade. Oh well!

Yeah I'm doing NASA TT for 2013, not autox. Every little thing you do to your car is points. I can only swap parts from 2003-2005 evo 8. I caught the road racing bug. I'll still do some autox though.

Ugh! Auto-x rules are so stupid!

And we have shown (again and again from real race testing) that ceramic coatings do nothing to retain heat. They make your parts look nice for a bit, but it all comes off after being exposed to high heat for any reasonable amount of time. Just use it on headers for NA cars.

New dyno results on the MAP EF2.5 with 3" standard compressor cover. Ditching the anti-surge ports gained be back about 200 RPM of spool, +7 WTQ, and about the same WHP (-1 to be exact). 425whp/400wtq, stock cams, 93-octane pump gas:

LOL so a IX turbo alone isn't OK, but it is if you do the entire IX engine? That makes zero sense, and is even more of an advantage for an VIII doing the swap.
