Exclamation Locked myself out of the car. Running!

Sooo yeah. Good way to start the morning so far. Curious guys what I can do to unlock my car?

I've called lock smith and they are $75+. Curious if someone on here may have a how-to or even refer me to someone else.

p.s. I do NOT have full coverage insurance.

Your best bet is to call a tow truck company. Some are even nice enough to do it for free, or under the table...

You can break the small triangular window in the back is your other costlier option.

Locksmith; cheaper than busting a window. This is why everyone should have roadside coverage with their insurance, I believe it costs me $2/6 months on my policy.

Or you can just stick a very thin piece of metal between the weather stripping and the body of the car and use it to press the unlock button. You may have to wedge something in the door to open up some room for the rod though.

Piece of advice - get the full coverage insurance if at all possible - unless money is no issue.

I had an rx7 back in the day, paid cash, and to save money I only got liability. Well sht happens and I lost a ton of money. All because I wanted to save like $20 a week on expenses.

As for unlocking the car, I saw a cool tennis ball trick on youtube. Lol. Doubt it works though.

having had a customer lock his keys in his car at my shop before, the locksmith used what looked like a tiny airbag with a hand pump. he slide it between the two doors in the door jam near the top of the door, and then started pumping up the air bag. it pushed the top of the door open and he used his plastic rod to hit the unlock button.

after watching him (make 100 dollars in 2 minutes flat), i now do it myself

I have yet to encounter a car I wasn't able to get into with whatever common objects where at hand and some patience.

Yeah I've seen the lil airbag trick. Pretty cool.

Guy came out with a thicker piece of metal (I tried a hanger), and a little rubber wedge that he squeezed in there to seperate the weather strip, and bam. No damage, or history of him being there.

$60 bucks in less than 2 minutes. Damn I don't blame why KevinD started doing this lol.
