Where and how long would this "Three Sisters" route be? I would be interested in doing it after lunch before heading back to Dallas. I'm unsure if I'll be able to spend the night, but I'll keep it in mind as it could make for a very fun weekend. I like the idea of bombing straight down 35 to Austin that morning and not messing around with a roundabout route if we're doing a fun cruise in the afternoon. That morning we should meet at a Dunkin Donuts or similar in Dallas around 6:30 and plan to be on the road by 7.

This is hardly by Austin, definitely not something that could be done the same day...it's a 3 hour drive from the meet.

Ok!!! We have a cruise routed!.. Its about 120 miles through some great roads west of Austin. I know since I have traveled them before. Lots of twisties and some "at speeds"
We will be leaving the Rudy's BBQ at about 2:30 after lunch. We can fill up both our bellies and gas tanks. If your running E85 your welcome to attend but plan accordingly.
Detailed map packets with both visual maps and verbal directions will be provided at the meet for those interested in attending the cruise. We estimate it will be about a 2 hour to a 2.5 hour cruise depending on your driving skill.
There will also be a very short drivers meeting at Rudy's before we leave.
Those of us from Dallas have our own custom Radios. Here is a link if you would like to get one your more than welcome. NTEC plans many cruises and our members find the radios worth the expense. I sell them at COST. If you want one just PM me here in the forums.

We will be meeting back up in Austin to say our final goodbyes and such.

After talking with Tom and Armando, we thought it may be fun to make this into an overnight trip. Would anyone else be interested in spending the night in Austin then cruising back to Dallas Sunday morning? I think I've found a very nice hotel at a great rate: DoubleTree by Hilton Austin - University Area
Looking at about $110 per room, which includes free parking, free WiFi, outdoor pool, restaurant, lounge, etc. Plus I believe Double Tree still offers free cookies at check-in
Rooms can obviously be split between multiple people if you're looking to save a few bucks.

I figure if we do this as planned, we should be back to the hotel before 6pm which will be about perfect for people to get cleaned up, grab dinner around 7-7:30, then hang out as a group for the evening at a restaurant, bar, etc. Three Sisters really needs to be an event of it's own since it's quite a distance, and this is already turning into a long enough day (I figure 12 hours from leaving home until arriving at the hotel, 3S would easily push that until 9PM).
I think a better plan for 3S would be leaving Dallas early in the morning, cruising the 3S route, then spending the night in San Antonio.
