not that anyone cares, but i want to share
my garrett35r had the traditional bell mouth compressor housing when i bought it. i had never thought of surge issues when i took the car up to ohio to get built. well the turbo surged soooo violently for the two weeks i had the car, i was really quite disgusted. i called fp and ordered a used anti surge comp housing for a hundred bucks.
slater and i mounted it up tonight and holy ****. its like a new beast all together. i was intentionally trying to get it to surge to no avail. im ecstatic right now.

difficult to explain, but you'd understand immediately if you saw it.
its possible issues may arise when that turbo starts spinning at 100,000+ rpms, but who doesnt like a good fireworks display?
whoever owns the white 8 RS with the JDM rear that I always see in the New Ken area and again on 28 heading north by the Natrona Heights Exit I'm going to steal your car! haha

Surge doesn't kill turbos as quick as some people would like you to believe. I'm not saying its good or acceptable I'm just saying that I have ran cars without a BOV and 38 ish psi doing full lifts to shift with that throttle plate slamming shut. People told me it wouldn't last long like that, well it outlasted the motor and the turbo was fine (except the turbo bearing damage due to metal debris from the motor).
