What usually happens is a $10 part costs $1000 or more in damage. Its the laws of exponentials.

X^(Y/10)

Where X is the normal cost of the part. Y is how much money you "saved". So if you spend $18 for a jug of tx case fluid instead of the $70 jug from the dealer your cost will be:

70^1.8= $2095

People told me it wouldn't last long like that, well it outlasted the motor and the turbo was fine (except the turbo bearing damage due to metal debris from the motor).
ya when i ordered the compressor cover from fp, i talked to the salesman/tech for a while because he was super friendly and knowledgeable. he pretty much explained that with bb turbo's surge isnt good per se, but isnt as destructive as say a journal bearing turbo. something to do with the level of axial play in the ball bearings and center cartridge.

either way, i checked the amount of play on the compressor wheel and didnt notice any significant comparative play from when i bought it.

the surge was really affecting the way the car pulled though. it would cut out on power in wot and violently buck to the point where it wasnt even fun to get on it in any other gear but first or second.

problem solved; lesson learned

nah no pictures. this was a super secret squirrel meet.

although someone should have had a video camera at the bar afterwards, i get the impression i was probably fairly entertaining. luckily i had a good designated driver to cruise the MR home. although he couldn't seem to figure out why my windows magically went up and down.

I was surprised how quiet and well mannered your evo is.

How do you know its running right if you can't hear all the diffs and gears all the time?
