Dave, go ahead and add me to the list. The cup should already be hoisted by then so I won't have any excuses this time. Plus, I'll show off my new toy!

i just did some quick adding here of safety equipment for hill climbing because i would like to get in to this also.
bear in mind that this is a rough estimate, i didn't do any bargain shopping, but it should give you a rough idea of what kinds of costs are associated.
Gloves - $90
Helmet - $350
Fire Suit - $600
Arm Restraints - $25
6 Point Harness - $150
Shoes - $180
Seat - $700
Cage - $800
Nomex Socks - $15
Nomex Undies - $160
Fire Extinguisher - $50
for a grand total of $3120

but i am willing to bet you would have FAR more than 3 grand worth of fun carving up mountain roads.

jer, i was also looking at hans devices. they're very pricey, starting around $700. is that something that would be a good idea for hill climbing, or am i making this too complex?

I'm thinking of getting a hans. Really its all about how you feel about saftey. There is a mininum and then there is what you should have. Two different things. I've had many people ask me how much my life is worth? There are wrecks on the hills, all the time actually. So, it really depends on the person.
