NY Metro Area Autocrossing
Hi all,
Even though the New York Region SCCA autocross series is done for the year, there are still a few events you can get to in the NY Metro area.
Saturday 10/15/05 - Westchester Sports Car Club at Orchard Beach in the Bronx. Yes, **that** Bronx. No, it's not in the bad part. Yes, it's legal. Pre-Register at http://www.wscc.org (pre-registration is strongly recommended).
Sunday 10/16/05 - NASA at the Meadowlands Sports Complex (lot 16 IIRC). More info at http://www.nasanortheast.org.
Come on out while the weather is still semi-decent and improve your driving skills. See you there!

I was just wondering for next year. Are there any other autocrosses in the NY/NJ area on Saturdays? (Note my screen name - Sundays AM are a little booked for me)

You'll want to check out http://www.autox4u.com for a full schedule of many clubs in the area. Generally, NNJR SCCA runs on Saturdays, but other marque clubs may run on Saturday as well.

If you wish to spectate, you will have to sign the insurance waiver (i.e., if you get bonked on the head by something or hit by a car) you're holding the organizers harmless. Most people who "just want to watch" usually wind up wishing they actually signed up to run by the time they see the cars going around.
Get there at about 8AM and plan on staying the day. Not only will you improve your driving skills, you might even have fun

It seems the rains have worked their magic on this beach front parking lot. Check back often, as it looks like Saturday's autocross may not happen. If that's the case, see ya Sunday at the Meadowlands.

Unfortunately the event at Orchard Beach has been cancelled. Apparently a good portion of the lot is under quite a bit of water. See http://www.wscc.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=192 for more information.
That of course leaves Sunday at the Meadowlands in East Rutherford New Jersey for autocrossing this weekend. See you there!
