Shop Brake Install Problems

Brake Shop Installation Problems
Alright, first some background - on Saturday I had new brake pads, rotors, and lines installed by a local chain brake and muffler shop. Today the brake line broke while I was parking the car - fortunately the parking brake was engaged, but still it could have been bad.
The mechanic at the Mitsubishi dealership (didn't preform the install) said that the line was installed with too much slack and were rubbing against the tire (wouldn't necessarily have heard this over normal nosies). There was and obvious rub mark where the line broke and these were the braided steel lines from RRM.
Anyway, I need some advice on what to do - I am looking at about $500 worth of additional costs due to this (towing, car rental, repairs).

You lucky it was parked, I had this shop Pruven Performance, Milford Ct. on my video, work on my brakes found out after going going to AMS that my rear brake lines had been leaking like a **** and I had no idea I could of been killed because of there half a$$ work.

Yeah brakes are definitely something that you don't want to have done half-assed. I'd be going to that shop telling them that the LEAST they can do is fix it the right way and cover all of your costs! Althouth I'd also have doubts about having the same shop who screwed it up try to fix it again! Good luck with the situation.

I also need to see what RRM says - if I should buy a new set of lines (likely the wise choice) or just a new one for the passenger's side.

Well I would have the Mitsubishi dealership fix the problem for you. In your final invoice they have to put an explanation of what they did to the car and why. Take your invoice over the other shop and have them reinburse you the money you payed the dealer...

Got the car back from the Mitsubishi dealership today - some pictures of the previous brakes are attached. Also, the Mitsubishi mechanic had this to say on the invoice:
Found the after market passenger side brake line installed backwards and rubbing against the wheel. Wheel ate through the line and started leaking.
