Worcester/Boston Social Thread
the 1.x cable and the new openport 2.0 are both fullspeed devices ie: 12Mbps. even then - thats only burst rate of streaming data. as soon as you are talking about serial communications, back and forth overhead, and process priority on a laptop - the practical data rate goes way way down.
the way the protocol works is the PC is like
PC - "hey whats the rpm"
ECU - "heres the rpm"
PC - "hey whats the timing"
ECU - "here's the timing"
PC - hold on a sec, i gotta blow my nose
PC - "hey whats the knock sum"
ECU - "here's the knock sum"
ECU - hey let me record all that, and add a timestamp
and repeat.
what would be awesome was if instead of using MUT, they used a streaming protocol. so the conversation looks like.
PC - "hey F, MUT - keep giving me rpm, timing, and knocksum"
ECU - "rpm, timing, knocksum, clockcycle"
ECU - "rpm, timing, knocksum, clockcycle"
ECU - "rpm, timing, knocksum, clockcycle"
ECU - "rpm, timing, knocksum, clockcycle"
ECU - "rpm, timing, knocksum, clockcycle"
ECU - "rpm, timing, knocksum, clockcycle"
edit: honestly, i don't even know why i care. when it comes down to it, it logs fast enough.

I work with a guy who got his clear bra done by tint king. He said if he had the chance again, he would go somewhere else. I guess the guy does awesome tint jobs, but clear bra - not so much (from what im told).
