So...a little birdie just told me that Mitsu is ordering you a new shortblock Ajay...should be back together by Wed :-O Still need to have the turbo checked out. It is very likely it injusted some metal. But a used IX turbo is peanuts compared to a new motor.
BTW, I don't need the exhaust back until your car is done.

This is an excellent idea. Especially if you have comprehensive coverage (which i'm sure you do if you have an auto loan). I would call them up immediately and explain the situation ("I didn't file a police report when it happened, because I didn't think it was going to be this bad...").

Marsh- WTF is going on with your car man? Now i have decided that i want the parts off of it. But of course, I won't be sad if you sell it and get a good price...

Can they order just a short block? Does mitsu have a part number for that? I thought you could order individual components or a long block. I didn't think they sold the short block alone.

that is what i was thinking. Why try to sell him another car if they had ordered a shortblock to replace his with. I doubt they would order it without knowing that the car was being warrantied or the car would be fixed and sold through westboro because we know they wouldnt want a $2k short block on inventory.

Ajay- as mentioned before, most insurance companies can and will help. That is why you pay for coverage. They cover more than collision, you just hav eto tell them that I work at a Volvo dealer, and we see this all the time. Even with proof of the owner not maintaining the vehicle at their suggested services (not your case scenerio) we do most of our engine replacements through auto insurance policies. There is a solution to Mitsu's lack of warranty support. If you are paying full coverage, then I do not see how they could deny you if Mitsu does, and Mitsu should be covering this without a doubt.
And this is a no-incident claim:
-No moving violation
-No bodily injury
-No 2nd or 3rd party involvement, and zero physical and/or property damage
I say you have a lot more on your side to getting this covered than you think.
