well its not like you will be anywhere near doing the clutch during install of those mods anyway. I would install them, get tuned and then see where the clutch is at. My guess is it will be slipping on the dyno and you will need to replace it.

what dealership do you deal with? Go to Westboro man, I wouldn't give any other Mitsu dealer around here my money.

Westboro Mitsubishi FTW

I see. I dunno much about 'em, I just really can't imagine Westboro being able to be beat. They don't mind bolt ons and they won't flag your car for them. Just an option for later once you do get your stuff on your car.

Eh, time for Friday briefs, anyone wanna go for me, they always put me to sleep....zzzzZzzzz...

Paul, you are asking teh newb questions, buddy.

Which reminds me... don't we have parts to install on your car?!?

Kate's going out with her friends Saturday night so we can install your WB if you want.... lemme know.

FWIW, anyone who's put cams in an VIII that I know has spun their stock clutch, regardless of miles... it will just start to slip near peak torque.

The combination of mods and 65k miles has mine slipping- albeit very occasionally- when I get on it in the aforementioned conditions.

I'll be shopping for an Exedy twin disc... as for cams- I haven't really done any research yet... since my priorities have changed, I'll likely move toward a more aggressive setup... i'll also probably be doing springs and retainers at the same time.

I've gotta do a bunch more research, tho... we'll see

for a mild cam i dont see a need to do springs/retainers. The stock ones are actually really well designed.

there's a fair amount of cams that don't require them. especially ones with near-stock lift.... and it would be nice to leave them alone

but, i dunno, 70k miles on teh stockers... i'll already be in there.... why not? maybe it's overkill...i still ened to figure that all out.

plus, it will really depend on the cam that i choose...

because it is a PITA to replace them in the car. Unless you want to pull the head which i am totally game for.

the valve springs are fine, even at 70k. I was just reading a thread on valve spring designs and they did a test of DSM springs at 100k and they were the same rate as a brand new spring.
