Hey guys I have a quick question. I'm getting an evo 8 wing and I'm gonna have the paint stripped so its all carbon fiber so it'll match my ralliart lip and side skirt extensions. Do I need to buy anything to put on the base of the wing where it bolts to the trunk so it doesn't rust there?

Car feels AWESOME. No more jerky off throttle, everything else acts completely normal. Fuel trims actually look better than they did and it appears i am getting less knock but that could be due to the colder weather. Anyway i am very excited and now i just need a super loud BOV

Do you have to change the VE when you add/change your mods?

Back from ice racing- Dex and I went with the ladies and had a blast.
It was SUPER slippery- i had to seriously deflate the tires to have any hope of traction. Lots of Evos showed up including Randy- so he does still exist!
I saw a fair amount of carnage out there - mostly trashed bumpers due to the more frozen snowbanks. A GTR showed up but was kinda lame, IMO.
I have 400+ pics, in-car HD video from my runs, exterior video from Dex's runs, and a handheld recording of one of Dex's runs. I'll be working on getting the vids on YouTube and pics posted.
It was definitely a fun experience- we bailed a little early to get back for the pups- but we had a good time.

tire question, maybe smikeevo knows:
so still looking into the possibilities of autox wheel/tire packages. i've pretty much decided on 17s but am considering 18s still.
17" package:
RPF1 - 17x8.5 - $230 - 16.0lbs
Z1* - 255/40-17 - $169 - 28lbs
($399 - 44lbs)
18" package:
RPF1 - 18x8.5 - $287 - 18.3lbs
Z1* - 255/35-18 - $233 - 27lbs
($520 - 45.3lbs)
17" have a clear price and minor weight advantage - $121 and 1.3lbs per wheel.
Besides the 18s looking better, what are their advantage? The only thing I can think of is there will be a smaller sidewall on the tire which presumably would be stiffer and perform better? How much of an advantage would this be? Would it be worth the price and weight savings?
EDIT: interesting... the 17" Z1*s have a higher max load and speed rating

a larger wheel is going to move weight further from the center of wheel and that is bad for braking and acceleration. ideally, you want wheels large enough to just clear your brakes. bigger is not better in this case. also, they are lighter wheels, so you will be better off.
basically, i am curious if there is a real performance reason to get the 18s over the 17s that i am overlooking.

rolling diameter would be more of less the same between the two. in terms of where that weight is, i think the 17s are worse in this respect? the tires, farthest from center, will be slightly heavier. id have to recalc the exact rolling diameter differences between the two, but they are both close to stock.

18" would be more for show than they would be for go. it's not like you have to run a crazy aspect ratio on the 17s. if you did, then that would be another story.

I think rotational inertia is what becomes relevant.

Here we go, my poor Evo...
The culprit...if you can't DODGE it RAM it, right?
And yes, that woman was writing on my trunk, I really didn't care given how pissed I was, and she was giving me her info as a witness.

Holy ****. Wow I think I would have lost it. Hopefully everything goes well and you get the Evo fixed asap. I can't believe who ever was in the Ram couldnt see you. You should try to get a JDM rear out of that too.
