There is another pic that shows under the splitter. On the right and left edge there are metal plates so it doesnt catch the carbon. Looks like that thing scrapes pretty often. At that height if they raced limerock it would probably be ripped off.

Um yeah i drooled yesterday when i saw it.

Limerock is a dangerous track. I doubt i would race there. I know some experienced drivers that either dont race there or dont like it.

Turco, maybe I should take a second mortgage against the house, take a 20 year loan with a big balloon payment and get an aston! That car is amazing, though.

I would never go to limerock either. there are all sorts of stupid transitions from asphalt to cement and it's just treacherous. i think NHIS is enough for me- it's a blast and chances are you will still be driving your car home unless you are a complete asshat.

I really cant wait until palmer opens up. NHIS is a blast but you can tell it designed as a circle track. the transitions off the chicane are pretty bad in some parts.

Dave runs 18x8.5 rota torques and 255x40x18 falken rt-615 tires. I know paul runs volks 18" but i am not sure if he bought tires yet.

Paul sell me your SE wheels!!!! You could totally put the money towards aftermarket rymz

haha i doubt i'm going to get new rims and IF i did... i would at least wait until i killed my stock advans.

i worked out these #'s...

stock rim dia: 17" = 431.8mm
stock tire height: 235mm x .45 = 105.75mm
stock rolling dia: 431.8mm + 2(105.75mm) = 642.9mm

stock rim width: 7.5" = 190.5mm
stock tire width: 235mm
tire width - rim width = 44.5mm (22.25 per side) [read: does this # mean anything? is there a limit on how "over" you can be?]

i looked up the rims i liked on tire rack (18x8.5) and tirerack recommends 235/40-18 tires. this seems stupid to me as the contact area of the tire is the same as stock. my guess is tire rack is trying to stay as close to stock as possible, especially in terms on rolling diameter?

18x8.5 + 235/40-18
rim dia: 18" = 457.2mm
tire height: 235mm x .40 = 94mm (lower profile than stock)
rolling dia: 457.2mm + 2(94mm) = 645.2mm (2.3mm over stock)

rim width: 8.5" = 215.9mm (25.4mm over stock)
tire width: 235mm (same as stock!)
tire width - rim width: 19.1mm (9.55mm over per side)

so couple questions...
- what is the "typical" size tire ppl run with 18x8.5? 255x40x18 like davids?
- how badly does the difference in rolling diameter affect the speedo and is there a way to fix it?
- what is the limit of tire width to rim width?

EDIT: i apparently didnt do much at work this morning haha

Here use this to compare tire size to stock 235/45/17

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Mikie said to try to stay within 3% of stock either larger or smaller.
