kbb says about $4k even in fair condition (which i think is accurate) so i don't think it's a bad deal. i mean, the thing will probably run forever.

besides $2500 won't be the difference between buying a house or not anyway.

i would just think if you really want a beater car or not and is it worth it. if so, at least you know the history of this car (was it taken care of, etc) so it's the evil you know vs going to a car lot and buying the evil you don't know.

edit: i did a quick search on cars.com and even with over 100k miles those things are selling for $10k+. expensive suckers.....

i dunno man, cars or trucks with that many miles start to deteriorate and there is no way it is worth $4k or anyone would probably pay that. I wouldnt anyway.

unfortunately, it seems like the populous doesn't think that way. remember, stupid people are in the majority and often times **** up things for the rest of us.

How many miles are on Steve's explorer? I would shoot for something with a lot less miles for almost the same price.

look up toyota trucks on ebay/autotrader... they go for 3k/3.5k all day in that year/mileage. its sick.

this is basically my dilemma. i wish it has less miles on it, but i do know that the thing is pretty solid. its def not a bad deal regardless of the mileage.

yeah, but steve pretty much did everything but stole that thing. definitely the exception.

i mean, i paid $900 for the jeep with 165k miles on it. that kind of puts things in perspective. for the extra stuff you get with the toyota it's probably not all that bad.

i mean for $2k, i'd do it. $2.5k is somewhat of a grey area for me.

tell him $2k and you'll help him catch tara in the act using the PS3 camera. that's freakin priceless, so it should make up the $500 difference

even at $2500, if you are going to use the thing, i don't think it's an awful deal if you really like/want it.

I would at least take a quick peak at the market and see what is out there for $2500. Who knows you could probably get a smokin deal on something else.

so jealous.

Paul if you arent modding the evo why do you want a second car, just to keep the miles down? I mean dont forget it is another vehicle you have to fill with gas, do maintenance on, get inspected, pay fees and insurance ect ect.

yea the other costs do come into play. insurance will be ~380 more a year.

couple reasons:
- nice to have another car
- nice to have a pos car that i don't car about (take it to boston and ****)
- nice to have a truck to moving crap
- nice to have a truck for the winter when its really sh!ty out and i dont want to take teh evo out or start her up cold

she is 4wd too (not full time) and a 5spd and black. she is pretty much s3x on wh33ls

i should find out how much an engine would cost me in case that ever died. if it was cheap i'd be more likely to buy her. it would make a fun project and with a new engine dropped in, she really would last just about forever...
