Working on a car with 100k+ miles that was never taken care of in terms of rust prevention i.e. underbody car washes FTMFL. Case in point: Sentra. You will never want to work on that car. Believe me.

What year is the 4runner? How much rust?

Those trucks are bulletproof, but still, 200k is A LOT of miles.

For 2.5k I'd get a cherokee, even though I hate those things - they are pretty reliable.

i have proven that. if i haven't broken mine, i think it's safe to assume no one will.

then again, it's certainly a little quirky. i've had a few little problems, like the hood release breaking, the A/C breaking, some other misc stuff. then again, it's 15 years old so none of it is really surprising.

oh- i've never changed the oil. i just dump a quart in now and again and flog it. jeep doesn't complain. i may change the filter soon, but it certainly won't happen until it's warm out.

the jeep is pretty much impossible to break. Except for the stupid stuff that mikie mentioned.

My sable had 205k miles when the tranny went, for the second time. If it wasnt for the weak transmission that car would run forever.

That's the weakpoint of the c-van as well. Tranny is on its way out, but the originally tranny on a caravan making it to 200k is a feat in itself.

I baby the thing, trying to suck as many miles out of it as possible.
