Dave did you decide if you are going to do the turbo? My vote is still to pull the motor, do cams, timing belt, clutch

We can talk tomorrow...you won't get too much gains from a catback...some more top end and a little better spool...but nothing on the exhaust side is going to require a tune. Of course, a tune will optimize anything you do modify but you won't see any losses from exhaust mods.

Rock the catback for a while and you'll be dying for a high-flow and downpipe.

Oh, and you don't need to weld a bung as long as you're sticking with the stock O2 sensor. It's only necessary if you're adding a wideband.

You can plan on doing it here...I think Eric and I had his done in under a half hour!

The turbo's out for now. Between the Nav and this nasty alarm i built for the house/garage, I've gotta keep an eye on my loot. I think at 60k, I will just pull the motor to do cams, t-belt and clutch. It seems like a reasonable course of action.

That will probably be sometime in November or December.

Good thing I got the woodstove in the garage!!!

I know, at first, I just wanted to get the catback, since I got the JDM rear, so it would look cleaner in the back...now I'm debating spending more money and doing the dp and cat, since I'll be down there and have the exhaust off....damn, never ends...I'll probably stick with the catback so I wont have to worry about emissions....

haha, I can see us in the dead cold of winter, doing mods on your car, making some smores by the wood stove, huddled up in blankets by the car, while it's blizzard like conditions outside

You don't ever have to worry about emissions. All you need is no check-engine-light and you pass. You can accomplish that with the $5 anti-fouler mod...which I can show you under my car. We can handle all of the exhaust if you'd like.

Just make sure your isht comes with hardware and gaskets...I usually have extras of each lying around, but I can't be sure...

I worked on my buddy's car all winter with nothing but a kerosene burner. I actually like working in colder weather, I have flannel insulated carhart pants and a "car" sweatshirt that keep me cozy The wood burning stove should keep the garage as warm as inside the house. Might be beach weather even!

Dave, I cant wait to see the nav.

Wouldn't be the first time

Let's see... work performed when outside temperature was below 30 degrees F:
  1. Evo brakes, including stainless lines and rotor replacement,
  2. Multiple evo exhausts
  3. EGT Gauge including manifold tap
  4. Oil Pressure Gauge
  5. HID Fogs
  6. CF Vortex generator
I think it goes on...usually the times were spent working for a bit then dashing to the woodstove to restore bloodflow to the hands...the benefit of frozen body parts...you feel no pain!

Yeah...I did my first exhaust in December in the parking lot of my apartment complex .

Now that stove will get to 600 degrees and keep the workshop in the 70's and 80's and the garage in the 55-70 range. Sometimes you can work in a t-shirt out there...others you gotta bust out the "car" hoodie.
