I'd really caution you against trading UP from the Evo, money-wise, if you still owe anything on it at all.
The GSX would make a phenomenal option for you...but if you're gonna go $2k or more upside down on an Evo X, I would just say "no" for now.
You're better off getting close to paying off your VIII and then considering a sale/trade when the next model year X comes out...

I owe ~$14k on my current Evo...trade in value was ~$16k..so right there, it is not worth trading it in.
My options:
Sell my Evo for whatever (hopefully alot more than $16k obviously)..pay off said note...the remainder of the $$ goes as down payment towards the X (whenever it may be that I get one).
OR
Sell said Evo...hand over $12k for that sexy *** Spyder...take remainder and put it towards the $14k I still owe. Sucky thing with that, ya let's say I put $8k towards my note...leaves me with $6k on my note (give or take of course, it all obviously depends souly on what I get for mine obviously)...So now I would still basically be paying my almost $400 a month til its paid off..and instead of the Evo..I have the Spyder...at least the insurance would be cheaper.
I could hold onto my Evo for a while, but all that is going to do is depreciate even more. So I might as well sell it now (regardless of when/if I get the X), while I can still possibly get a decent amount for it.
*End rambling*

As far as I know, if you sell the Evo you'll need to pay off the note in its entirety, since you'll no longer have collateral for it. You might then take the remainder and put it towards another car. You won't be able to secure financing on the GSX since it's Blue Book is waaaay below what he's asking and it's such and old car. If you want it, you'll likely have to pay cash.
Then, getting into a new $30k car will be OK, but with a $2k to $6k downpayment, you're still gonna get bent on your monthly payments. You're better off hanging on to your VIII until it's totally paid off and then decided what to do... it sounds like you may have a ways to go on that, though, so I understand your urgency.
I don't imagine that your Evo will ever be worth less than you owe on the note, which is great...you won't hav eto worry about being screwed if it gets totalled. Plus, the depreciation will level off very soon, I am sure. You'll be getting raped a lot worse on the X's depreciation.
You and I are in the same boat...I want out of the car so bad but it just doesn't make sense... I'll probably never sell it, just end up going with an additional vehicle when the need arises...
We're also both blessed with short commutes right now so it REALLY doesn't make sense to sell... just my $.02

Dave, if you are interested, I will gladly give him your contact info or what not. He does not list a phone number or anything, so if you do want to talk to him, I can PM him for you. He has ALOT more pics, but I figured just post a few.
Most of you know the car. I'm moving to FL and need the money to put down on a new house. I've owned it since 2003, bought it bone stock and I've put about 12k miles on it since I've owned it (8k in the first year that I owned it when it was stock). Everything about this car is just about brand new. Not ding, dent or scratch on this car not even a piece of dust or dirt for that matter. It is cleaner than my 2007 Civic Si, not kidding at all. I have about $40k worth of receipts in a folder for EVERYTHING that has ever been purchased for this car. $12K FIRM. This is the cleanest DSM on the face of the planet.

I hope he has an air filter for that intake though??
Bill, its a tough decision whenever you have a close amount of owed vs value on a car. You have to decide what is the overall goal of the sale? reliability of the newer car? lower payments? etc.
In this case, you are getting higher payments, but with a car that is brand new with a 5 yr warranty... is that worth the extra 150 bucks a month?? might be

whats up ladies? I played a lot of PS3 yesterday and totally killed a hooker. It is great because they actually run away when they get out of the car, so i get to hunt them down.
BTW I went to fastrack to get my wheel fixed he had a sweet, black S14 for sale. It has an aftermarket sunroof that rattles and reverse pop out but he has a new tranny on the way which he will be installing and he also installed the SE LSD. Not bad for $4500 It still has the stock KA 2.4 with 100k miles. Not a bad price, i wish i could trade him the sentra for it.
