I'm pretty sure it's common. Not too long ago a bunch of Volvos etc. sunk on a cargo liner. There is a reason BMW has a body shop in the port.

Now there's a good reason to buy used. 3rd of the value gone as soon as you drive a new car off the lot... and these have been totaled already? Merchant ethics is an oxy-moron.

wow that sucks. I work for IGM and we import huge granite and marble slabs for counter tops from italy and brazil , but the containers are sealed till they hit our dock in CT and we've had over 60K plus worth of damage cause of the container beinging tosed around on the ship. its not a pretty site
