Exhaust is PA

before I install exhaust parts, what is everyone running to keep it legal?

I know our inspection is just a 'look' check and to make sure the cel light doesnt come on.

Just use a hfc instead of a test pipe?

I have a high flow cat just make sure your going to a good garage not some place stupid like pepboys because they have no idea about performance parts. Tried telling me they couldnt pass my car bc they didnt know if it was a hfc so i took it to my mechanic and he passed it in 10 minutes. He told me it looks like a cat, has a oxygen sensor n isnt throwing a code then there is no reason to not pass it.

thats what I thought, but I couldnt remember. Could you run a downpipe and a catback and not change the cat? or is it worth a few extra ponies?

If you're talking about emissions, it depends on the county you're from. If you're closer to one of the major cities, it has to pass the OBD test. In addition to making sure the cel light works and stays off, all the readiness monitors have to be on. Some counties just do a visual if I remember correctly. I haven't inspected cars in a few years, but when I did, Philly didn't have a visual test.

You can keep the stock cat n just run a catback exhaust. Mine is turbo back so i needed a high flow cat so it can pass inspection. Mine has a place for a hfc or a delete pipe so they are interchangable.

as far as pa emissions goes if your in a county that requries an emissions test it's just an obd test. The monitors need to be completed and no check engine lights. There is no visual. If you are in a county with no emissions test that just means there is no obd test but because of that the state does require a visual test to atleast make sure emissions devices are in place. So it's actually easier to get through emissions in a county that has emissions cause all you have to do is either get the monitors tuned so it forces a pass or use one of the mechanical o2 fixes.
