windshield replacement NY

The nickel sized chip on the windshield just became a 12 inch crack over a short drive so it needs to be replaced. Can anybody recommend a good/reasonably priced shop in Westchester county, preferably near White Plains?

Potemkim Mitsu in Manhattan refered me to Liberty Glass who quoted me $295 and Safelite wanted $378 if I brought it to their shop. That seems to be quite a bit more than what I'd expect but perhaps I'm just not used to east-coast prices!

Check your insurance policy as you might be covered for glass with no deductible. As far as Safelite, I used them and they did a great job and they even came to me so the price they quoted you shouldnt change if you bring it to them or not. Good luck. You should do some research to check is the regular lancer glass is the same because evo stuff is always more expensive. That's what I did with my 06 IX. When I made the appt. I told them it was an 03 Lancer and it was a lot cheaper.

As it turns out, my insurance covers it with a $500 deductible so it's no help. The places I called don't know what an EVO is, their computers only show "mitsubushi lancer 2008" so when I call I've been asking, "please give me a quote to replace the windshield on a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer."

guess you're going to have to just bite the bullet and pay. Unless you want to try to install it yourself lol

That's why I'm asking to see if $300 is the going rate and if someone can recommend a good installer.

Just be careful some of the company's that offer cheap prices use cheap glass. It will get pitted faster and look like crap. Its worth it to buy a quality windshield!
