NYS Troopers' Undercover car!!
#18
I hear u man, that is not what pissed me off . It's just that I know they just cruised behind me and wanted to stop me for one reason or another, I dont really know why but I was not doing 78, nobody was able to.....I would have just loved to hear it from the guys in the unmarked, let THEM tell me I was speeding and show me at least a radar in the car, they just kicked back there behind my car and the marked car then pulled off without sayin a word..........thats what put me over the edge, but whatever

in ny only on highways undercovers are illegal. Pataki did this because people were impersonating troopers and raping women on the highways. Don't know if the law changed when pataki left office but as far as I know if your on the highway the cop has to have a marked car. The pallisades is a parkway so I don't think that applies. You can also tell by the plates to as far as undercovers because the plates say official on them.

Okay, I am a lawyer and I will try to explain what the story is behind ny police, unmarked cars and traffic stops:
Pataki issued an executive order that prohibits unmarked police vehicles from making "routine" traffic stops on highways. If you speed 15 miles over the limit, it is a routine traffic stop. If you arent wearing your seat belt they can't stop you (unmarked).
Drive 60 miles over the limit i.e. 105 miles per hour, you bet an unmarked can pull you over. Swerve and nearly cause accidents, you bet an unmarked can pull you over. Drive the wrong way on the highway, you bet an unmarked can pull you over.
So far the executive order has not be repealed by the current govs adminstration.
"Executive Order No. 35, issued April 17, 1996 (Ordering that Unmarked Police Vehicles of the State of New York not be Used for the Routine Stopping of Motorists in Connection with Traffic Violations)"
