93 octane?

So I just recently bought a brand new evo RS (rally red). It is definately the fastest and best handling car I've ever driven, it hugs the road like nothing else. I'm really happy with it. But anyway i was going through the owners manual and it said 93 octane was recommended for max performance, but as far as I know the highest octane I've seen anywhere around here (portland area) is 92 octane. Does anyone know of anywhere to get 93 octane gasoline in oregon?

92 will be fine. My 2005 MR runs fine on 92 octane gas. In fact, have never yet had a chance to put 93 in to see if it made a difference.

If you live in high elevations your car requires a lower octane. I live north of Salt Lake City which is 4800 ft above sea level, the highest they sell here is 91. There are a couple places that sell 100 but it's $4.75/gal or more. You can also do some reasearch and find fuel substitutes and additives. (ex. octane booster)

If you bought a upper 20k car and you cant afford to put the gas in it that its suppose to have then sell it for something that can take regular. Your ruining your car over like 2bucks!

Thanks again buddy!

Something you guys might want to look into and try . . . .

Toluene is 114 octane, and Xylene is 117 octane. Both are aromatic hydrocarbons, essentially the same thing as pump gas, but primary ingredients in octane boosters and produced from refining crude oil. I mix 1 - 2 gallons of Xylene to a tank of gas when I want to run high boost. 1 gallone 117 octane and 9 gallons 92 octane ends up around 94.5 octane. Either can be purchased at paint supply stores for around 10 - 12 per gallon.
