soooo, I bought that 06 evo motor on craigslist.....yeah I pulled the plugs and there was water in the cylinder but it was stored outside.....I'm sure it can be cleaned up... heads look good. Paid $250 not like I needed it to be a running motor anyway. Lol.

Not a bad deal, even if it has some water in it. It would be worth it to me just in parts.

On a side note....I would definately be in for a cruise one of these days

Hopefully it will save me some money on my 2.3l stroker build. And I'll get to keep my car running while its being built. As soon as I'm done with my remodel I'll be tearing into it, no time right now.

TRE built 5spd is shipping today or tomorrow! I will write a review for it once I get it in the car but all in all I am very happy with the service I got from Jon@TRE. He hooked it up with a cheap core, all the 5spd swap parts, and shipping was only $380 which is actually slightly better than I expected. Yeah sometimes it can be a PITA to get a hold of him because he doesn't have an answering service, but he always called back and probably called me about once a week with updates.

Feels a little odd 'upgrading' to a 5spd. lol

No the 6spd still works fine but I want to upgrade the clutch and since I'll be having the tranny somewhat out anyway I figured its a good time to upgrade. It really is the weak link in my setup and will certainly be even more so when I build the engine and upgrade the turbo.

I went with the stage 3, rem isf coating on the hubs, sleeves, shift rails etc, shot peened gears, upgraded 1st gear bearing, evo ix 1st 2nd 5th, evo viii 3rd and 4th, hks 4.11 upgraded final drive, and then all the replacement internals with new things. You can read about it here. Basically new everything except the case which is sand blasted, jon hooked it up on the core also since I didn't have one, he provided it at way less cost that I could have got one for, and also gathered up all the 5spd swap parts I needed and offered those at a great price also....its more transmission than I need but I like it that way.

I'm digging my longer Evo 9 first gear. Makes it fun at auto-x and rally-x if it's a short course.

I was thinking about going out tonight and running to get some more use out of my 6spd and clutch but talked myself out of it. I'm still on my all-seasons so I'm just going to wait until next year, get some good rubber, do my tranny swap, and then see what I can do.

BTW I think blacksunset's (matt?) old evo is for sale on craigslist......guy says his loss is your gain.... at 17k
