I'm very very interested. I can make it any day you set it up.
The other car clubs that do this same thing at pacific raceways like alfa and bmw are only $160 though, so we should shoot for that price range.

I've been doing some more research - looks like the cost is tied to the race track, and the experience level. PR > PIR > BR, and the more novice the more you pay. On the other hand, most novice schools will provide loaner helmets too, which is helpful.
For PR, here's a list of options:
Proformance Racing @ Pacific Raceway(PR)
Dates : 06/06 (Tu), 06/27 (Tu), 07/04 (Tu), 08/28 (Mo)
Cost : Novice $475, PM only $175
Rules : Novice must do AM school, experienced can do PM lapping only

Track : http://www.pacificraceways.com/
Helmet : available
International Race Drivers Club (IRDC) @ Pacific Raceway
Dates : 07/8-9 (Sat/Sun), 08/5-6 (Sat/Sun)
Cost : $250
Rules : Must attend ground school on Sat to drive on Sun

Helmet : available (?)
Speedware Motorsports Lapping Day @ Pacific Raceway
Dates : 06/22 (Th), 7/26 (We) , 08/10 (Th)
Cost : $175 + $75 add' driver
Rules : prev road coarse exp required

Helmet : Bring your own
Open Lapping Days (Test'n' Tune) @ Pacific Raceway

I'm thinking there are really only three ways to get all us (novice & experienced) on the same track event:
1) do it with Proformance Racing so that the novices are taken care of AM, and the exp. crowd can join in the PM;
2) do a "drivers-school" + lapping event (like the IDRC school) where we all do everything
3) do a separate novice event first (and anybody else interested), so we all qualify for the open lapping days afterwards.
If people are up for it, we could spread the cost of the novice schools to share the pain - in exchange for the fun of being able to run as a group afterwards (NWE peeps I guess)?
I'll keep looking at options at Portland, Bremerton, and Spokane to fill in the list. Can I get a head-count on interested and previous road coarse experience vs. novice in the mean-time? Thx.

I would be a novice. So I would have to take one of the schools. Sounds good to me. I would rather have some more expirence under my belt before I take my car all out on a track. Oh ya, thanks Ralph for thinking of this. I cant wait.

lots of great ideas listed above, here is one more for some of you.
You can go as a novice to a car club event, such as the Alfa (note the spelling, they hate to see it spelled the other way) lapping day. BUT they want you to go to their Bremerton event before they will let you do a PR day.
You do not have to worry about being to green, they put you in a session with other novices and everybody has an instructor in their car for the entire day.
not only is Bremerton less expensive it is safer too. then when your session is not out on the track, get a ride with an instructor or advanced driver to see how much fun it can be.

Still haven't heard back from the IRDC guys, I need to bug them some more ...

Ok guys - here's the scoop: IRDC is our best bet, they are on the weekend, novices do Sat & Sun to ease into it with plenty of coaching and provided helmets, and experienced peeps just join on Sunday (bring your own helmet). There are 15 slots remaining, and it is possible to share a car with multiple drivers. Here are specifics:
Organization:
International Race Drivers Club
http://www.irdc-racing.com/
Track:
Pacific Raceways
http://www.pacificraceways.com/
Novices:
July 8 (Sat) PM ground school
July 9 (Sun) Driving all day driving
Cost is $250
Helmets available
Registration form is here
Experienced:
July 9 (Sun) Driving all day
Cost is $125
Bring your own helmet
Registration form is here
More event info is at http://www.irdc-racing.com/schools.htm
I told the guys I'd bring at least 10 cars - don't let me down! If NWE peeps want to help spread the novice costs, we could do 200/175 instead - that might be a separate discussion though. So who's in? If you haven't driven on a race track before, I guarantee you the most fun you've ever had in a car .

to get you an idea, here's a vid of me doing a lap at PR - sorry about the crappy cam (little camera zip-tied to my passenger harrness). Notice the boost cut coming out of the hairpin ...
