Theres nothing like the Pacific Northwest.
Around Portland there is Beaverton, Tigard, West Linn, Clackamas, Hillsboro,..... a ton of cities pretty much connected to Portland, or you can move into the the small towns that are ~20min from Portland.

If you're like me, and your location matters with employment, then live on the other side of the state line in Washington. (I pay no state income tax as long as my house is in a state that doesn't have it) I have lived in quite a few places due to being ex-military, and I really do like the Portland area. As long as you can handle the many months of gray skies and rain, then you'll be just fine. But the upside of all that rain is that the scenery is just so freakin GREEN! There really is nothing like it. If you're coming here, then welcome.

PIR is a little bland, but you always have PR and of course all the california tracks are only a day or so away. Portland is a nice city.

I know guys in the S2000 world that run track days all year around in Oregon, WA, and California. Here is a detailed schedule of events thru nov.

I lied too. Pacific Raceway is in Kent not spokane. Spokane Raceway is in Spokane...imagine that!

I was recently having a conversation with my family about living costs in Portland.

I guess it is among the lowest in the United States, and is one of the fastest growing, nicest cities there is.

My aunt was saying that houses in the city in Portland is equivelant in price to a lower quality home in the outskirts in Seattle; and i guess they gain value faster as well.

All in all it sounds like a good place to live to me...
