PCA Track Day Aug 5th - Sunday Late Start

11:00 am start time. It goes until dusk. There seem to be quite a few spots open still. You need a BMW club membership to attend. I think it's 40/yr and it's good for BMW club, PCA, and alfa days.

Registration Info:

OK, so this is weekend track day, late start no excuses! DO IT!

stock engine (totally no flash, no nothing), RA1, 255mm sway bar, MR bilsteins, and swift springs. I have another video of me harassing a SC M coupe on hoosiers.

Haha awesome I have the same exact setup on my MR (swift springs, Perrin 25mm bar) How was the handling...I have yet to take this setup to the track. Definately couple bolt ons will fix the power on your IX...I can easily hang with new turbo porches that are 400+ HP, 140-150mph plus they will pull a little but until then its neck and neck. Oh and what size RA1 you run and what wheel setup. Good driving btw.

Thing is that was the only car that got around me all day in the advanced run group and there were multiple GT3 and turbos, etc on the track. I kind of like the challenge of running with a underpowered car compared to the other cars.

I'm running 255's on the Fnorc's or whatever they are called. 17X9. I'm only pulling about 127 on the back straight. That is the fastest straight when we are running the chicane. I think the only car hitting around 150+ out there was the Z06 with 325 Hoosiers!!

I didn't stay for the whole video, did you notice you were taking a lot different line than the porsche?
on the back, the corner before the porsche bumps he seemed to be able to get on it a little earlier than you. it just looked like you were crowding the inside corner instead of going late.

thats not to say you don't have the right line for your car, just thinking.

You're getting around there really well for being on crappy tires.
Nice driving man.
Did you get any times?

I might have been a little early on the corner, but his tires were allowing him to get on it earlier too. I was having a lot of trouble in 6 and may have been over driving 7. 6 was getting really slippery and I was probably being a bit aggressive. His line is a lot different then mine in 6 as he's really light weight with a ton of tire, running the hoosiers and all.

I don't have a data logger, but from my videos I think I was right around 1:29-1:30.

Hey the RA1s may grip like rock, but they wear like rock too! I actually like em. I'm not racing and they grip OK, last a long time, and talk a lot....good DE tire.

Thanks. There is always room for improvement!
I was overdriving a bit, but if you watch farther in the video I really catch up to him under braking in turn 1 and braking turn-10 and through 10-11. My tires are pretty used and abused too. This was like their 6th or 7th track day.

How was the body roll with 255's RA1s with your suspension. I am contemplating those tires or 265/35/18 RE01R but I am curious if the Swifts work well with that size tire. It seems now that I have minimal to little body roll and the tires break away first but that may be because I have bald advans at 20k miles
