First one I got, I fought it and won because the cop didn't properly fill out the Alpha Davis, I think that's what it is called.

Second ticket, I contested it and said I fixed it with a silencer and they reduced the ticket from 180 to 80.

It sucks that each one ticket you get afterwards for modified exhaust, The fine is increased by nearly double.

Fortunately, no ticket because I was from Oregon.

How does that work?

Technically if you have out of state plates they have to pull you over and issue a warning first, if the same cop pulls you over again, and even though you have out of state tags and he has warned you before, legally he can issue you a ticket. You are utilizing WA state roadways, therefore you must obey all local RCWs while in WA state.

When you go to court, just tell them you have an aftermarket 'factory replacement' exhaust. Unless the cop has a db meter, and took readings at 75' to prove your car is louder than the OE exhaust, the burdon of proof is in their hands, not yours.
If he took readings, you're f$%ked, supena him to court and hope it's not his day off.

The "It's a factory replacement exhaust, Not an aftermarket exhaust" excuse didn't work for me in court.

I have an Espelier jgt500 which according to Espelier and their blue sheet they give you with the exhaust, It's not an aftermarket exhaust, but a factory replacement. Even telling the judge its a replacement and showing him the blue sheet. He still said something like anything other than a factory exhaust is considered modified.

This is a lame excuse because it would seem like any muffler shop that threw an exhaust on your car would be other than factory.

When I had a cop question me for my aftermarket exhuast, I told him I bought it brand new on the car that way.

^thats the way to go... I bought my car used with my Apexi exhaust on it and the one time I got pulled over (5 days after purchase) I explained to the cop that I bought the car like that from the dealership... If it was illegal then they broke the law not me... needless to say no ticket that time

The WSP is very cool and reasonable. They have given me a couple of big tickets that could've been bigger. You got an exhaust ticket, they can't really give you anything less. They just lost a couple of troopers dealing with a real life psycho, so be cool.
