2g's are different, but about as close as you can get to apples to apples. Sure, the R&D might not have been the same, there were likely changes in who was working there, etc., but they (clutch manufacturers) do have experience to go off of when working on Evos after spending years on 2g's, for example.

All we as general consumers have to go off of is experience, 1st hand or 2nd, 3rd, etc. Of course, there will always be bad stories along with good stories as this thread shows.

Btw on Codgi's numbers you might want to know the difference between the dyno's he was on before making that type of comment. Their is a reason for that...
Oh boy, where to start.

For one were not talking about my car unless you're referring to my experience with the clutch..so the Fidanza for yours is much more than my act yes. But referring to TWO evo's their actually around the same price. In relation to both clutch kits, as well as flywheels.

And I would much rather have a chromoly flywheel than an aluminum one, due to strength and longevity.
It's a fact that aluminum is generally 1/2 the weight of steel but it is also 1/3 the strength. This means that you need 3 times the volume of aluminum to meet the strength of steel.Aluminum also has a limited life- it will eventually fail- while steel has a relatively unlimited life.
Not only to mention my friend bought a brand new Fidanza flywheel for his car (again, not comparing to your car, thought I should lay that out for you), in which he has had it in there, maybe only a few thousand miles when he pulled the clutch, and the flywheel is significantly closer to the bolts in the flywheel surface. Maybe just my eye's and could have well been a visual effect on my part, but, not interested.

Second he already has chosen a clutch, so were not doing much more than talking about personal experiences at this point, so don't get excited jr. No where did I jump on you're **** for putting ACT down did I? Nope, cause I don't care, that's you're opinion, like you stated, I just stated mine too. K?

Third, I know the difference in dyno's, I just thought it was funny that he put the dates on their. That's why I said, he "lost" power over time. Much why I stated before in a previous post, I would rather have 500 hp on a mustang or DD, than a DJ.

Glad we could clear that up.

^1..2..3..DRUM OFF! LMAO - I think you need to get laid, Jordon. Where is Zak when you need him?

I don't think Derek was trying to start the beef - probably just some words read the wrong way in a text format. Can't we all just get along?!

I think somebody needs to get their panties out of a bunch... I wasn't aware we are comparing 2g clutches to evo clutches now. I don't really care though...carry on.

At first I didn't want to go to ER because its a 3 hour drive and I wasn't sure if my clutch could make it down there, its almost dead already, I can barely hit 60 MPH on the freeway.

I haven't called WestWerks yet, but now that I know thats its closer, I'll definitely look into it later for any other jobs later that I need.

Well, if you buy from EAT Motorsports in Kirkland (The same place where they sell $100.00 Rally Armor Mudflaps), they have it for $450.00 + Tax, which is close to $500.00.

Its the cheapest I found so far for that clutch.

Hey, if you want to feel how the clutch drives, you can drive my Evo once the Exedy is in. Maybe you like it, maybe not. Who knows? =P

We can swap Evos for a day. LOL.

wow thats very nice of you. thanks for the offer. i will remember to try your evo when you get the new clutch in.

as for the pricing, i got a quote from maperformance for an act hdss for 519 shipped. that was before i considered exedy's.

i've read good things about er so i think you will be taken care of.

dont forget to write up a service review!

John, Since you have access to the hobby shop why not do the clutch yourself. It doesn't take but a couple of hours and you will save a ton of money.

On the other hand the guys at ER will do a good job.

You talking about Fort Lewis?

The Sprockets and Fort Lewis is about an hour and a half away from where I am, and I've never tore my engine apart to the extent of a clutch replacement yet. Furthest I had ever gone is replacing suspension on the Evo.

I can take anything apart, don't get me wrong.

Putting it back together is my problem. LOL.

Maybe when I get some more expirience and when time allows, I'll do a clutch install myself. But with college classes starting soon, and with too many other personal things going on, I just simply don't have the time or patience at the moment. =P

I chose ER because they said 1 Day Turnaround! Weeeee!!!!!

Well, hell. Why don't you get the ACT HDSS and since I'm getting the Exedy Single Stage One, we can test each others Evos out?

Thats just a suggestion. We'll see who's Evo blows up first. Bwahahahaha!

It's funny how I've had that up for well over a year and you're the first person to comment on it . Yeah I've only had 3 runs ever....1st was on the DD->2nd on the DJ and the 3rd back on the same DD.

Obviously the numbers from the 1st and the 3rd would be interesting comparisons. It really was a 2-3hp (increase with a -7psi difference mind you) difference but since this particular DD was clearly re-calibrated sometime between the two times (first time out cars with very basic simple bolt on mods were seeing in the 260-280hp range and the 2nd time around cars with a lot more mods were seeing the same 260-280hp).

Same tuners did the flashes on most of the cars in both cases so the numbers are useless. Not too worried about it since I really just use the dynos to dial my tune for 4th. Boost readouts (so far haven't seen one that is properly calibrated) and AFRs (tail sniffer + cat) are usually dead usless to me.

Plenty to do in Portland in a day too. Start off at the Acropolis. Ask Aaron to point you in the right direction. Starts the day off right!
