if you like whistler/blackomb, i would recomend this:

its only 40 mins from downtown vancouver. i worked there two seasons ago to be able to ride for free. the powder is awesome. i just keep watching the website for fresh snow. there are different runs according to difficulty, jumps, half pipe blah blah blah. some of the winter olympics events will be held here too but thats not until later. best time to check it out is in mid-late december to jan.

Daniel... I will be hitting the mountain when I get to Virginia (pit stop to visit the fam) on the way to FL. If i have enough cash I will probably go to Snowshoe, WV since it is only about 1.5 hours from my house... if not there is a tiny mountain at The Homestead that is 5 minutes from my house... and I will most likely get free lift tickets since I have been going there since I was 5 years old...

Yes, yes it is! I don't go as nearly much as I used to - knees and ankles have been giving me problems the last couple seasons. I am slowly getting my 8 year old into it, so that has been fun. He went from not being able to stand the cold to enjoying snowboarding, so I'm not rushing him.
