coolant leak

Hey i was just driving today and i stepped on it for a few seconds and smoke started coming out from under my hood and i had a liquid spray onto my window, it smelled like maple syrup. So i know that is the coolant, but i just wanted to hear if many others have this happen, and what might have this happen i checked the lines when i shut my engine off and there seemed to be no leaks.

Any coolant in the overflow? Check the radiator? Could be the headgasket. I have read quite a few threads on here recently about incidents like this and a few pointed to a headgasket going out on them. Do a leakdown test and a compression test and see what happens. Check the radiator for any oil blowing into the coolant system. Do you have any white smoke at a cold start up? How much coolant are we talking about here?

Hope everything works out for you

**** that would suck if it was a headgasket, how much would you estimate it to cost if it was? It was a pretty good amount of leaking. o and yes i do have white smoke when i start the car out of the exhaust.

do a pressure test and check your oil level!
