In need of help from a Portland area evo owner

Hello. I'm going to milwaukie tomorrow to test drive an evo... I am from Seattle so it is a bit long of a drive but worth it to get my baby! I'm looking for someone who can help me inspect the car a bit to make sure it is not thrashed... I can post the link when I get out of the movie theater

it's a 2005 ssl evo 8 36k miles with full exhaust kit. Bov and a few others.... I'm not sure if this is a normal request but I'm willing to pay a little or take you out for a meal... Lemme know! We would be doing this tomorrow

Thanks!

^lol - I wasn't sure you posted in the right region for a second. I'm guessing there is a milwaukie, OR. Is it really spelled like that? G/L, and I'm sure you'll find someone. ER is closed tomorrow I think, otherwise you might be able to coax one o' them boys South with some good drinkin'/possibly strip clubbin'

I'll probably leave north Seattle by 10 putting me in milwaukie around 12 to 1? Then will go to the dealer and take a look ... I would appreciate it... I am paranoid about buying a destroyed Evo. What times work for you? I can adjust. I'll figure out what time the deAler will be open

Town & Country (mitsu dealer with a good service department) is right by there. Matt the service manager there is freakin awesome.

The car looks pretty clean. I can't tell what exhaust that is, but shouldn't be an issue. The only thing I'm wondering about is the intake and if it was tuned for it. Since there aren't any other mods besides intake, shift knob, exhaust, I'm assuming no other hidden mods (cams, turbo, etc).

In all honesty, your best bet is getting the car on a lift and checking the fluids (t.case, transmission, rear diff, ACD). I think Town & Country is your best bet for that. Otherwise, all I can really do is listen for some bad sounds (death whine, untuned, etc).

It'd also be in your best interest to do a compression test. Last thing you want to do is replace pistons / rings after you get the car.

Being sold at auction does not necessarily mean anything significant. Dealers often use auctions to shuffle inventory that doesnt 'fit' their lot.

Imo, since the car is close to English Racing, you should just have them take a look at it sometime next week. If you see it and like it maybe offer a few hundred to hold it for you till ER can look it over or something.

Also, not sure how long you have been looking for an Evo, but there are a few really nice cars up for sale locally from Evom members. Check the regional marketplace. Also, rumor has it Forsaken will be selling off his RR IX soon.
