I'm sure there are more than 2 new alternators in the US. Most "new" alternators are rebuilt used ones.

I'm talking when they looked in the national parts system for Mitsubishi registered dealers, Bruce Titus in Olympia, WA, had the only 2.

And these aren't rebuilt alt.'s its guaranteed in the receipt that they're brand new.

problem solved!!! changed out the alternator... thanks again everyone.

side note. if anyone ever have to change their alternator, taking out your intake manifold and removing the unit from the top is much easier than what the shop manuel suggested.

I had my alternator done for warranty repairs and they got it through the top without removing the half shaft or the intake mani. If you manuever it right, it will slip out

Well, too late now, it took about 4 hours all together so it wasn't too bad. plus I have wanted to clear up the engine compartment anyways, what better ways to clear than taking it all apart.

Be super careful about this, I would not recomend this. This can cause a voltage spike that can destroy a computer modual, And not just pcm either. In most cases the engine will stop because the pcm shuts down to try to protect itself from the high voltage. there are other ways to test a alt.
