Volunteer for the Olympus Rally in Ocean Shores, WA April 30th - May 1st!!!
Have you ever wanted to see what stage rally is all about? Are you a future competitor that wants more experience to learn how a rally works? Then volunteer at the Olympus Rally in beautiful Ocean Shores, WA!!
We are looking for volunteers to help out. Some things you can sign up for are
Road Marshal: you get the best seat in the house! Your job is to block the side roads on a "hot" stage from any non-rally traffic. While this is an important job for safety of the competitors, it's a great job for novice volunteers.
Time Controls: a fun way to see the cars and drivers up close! Learn more about the inner workings of a rally! You check in the cars and record their start/finish times.
Comms: looking for people with a HAM license to work with comms for the stage.
No experience necessary!
Please register at www.olympusrally.com
Hope to see you out there!

Way to go, La' Akea!!!
Hope to see you there, because we certainly haven't been seeing you down here for the past few seasons.![Wink](https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Don't know if I'm gonna make it to the start but we are working feverishly to get the EVO done before Oly. DEFINATELY by O.T.
Seriously folks, spectating has nothing on volunteering. There is no better way to get closer to the drivers, cars, teams and flying gravel than to volunteer. That's how I got started.![Big Grin](https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

We'll take as many people as we can get. It's more fun for volunteers if you have a group to hang out with. For control positions (start/finish), I need at least 4 people at start and at finish. I like to pair people up at road marshal positions if I have enough volunteers. But the more, the merrier!
@Scott - I missed you guys too! Got too involved in organizing so didn't make time for rallycross. I'm going to change that this season, so you'll see me out there more. Looking forward to seeing your evo at OTR!!

Olympus Rally - crew?
Hi All,
Haven't posted in this section before, but at the suggestion of one of your own, I figured it was worth a shot.
My Evo is experiencing a little more down time this year than prior years (PPIHC and CHCA hillclimbs), and my wife & I are finally headed to our first stage rally together. We're in the finishing stages of getting a little Group2 BMW ready for the MaxAttack series and will be running the car both at the Global Rally Cross event in a couple weeks, and then at the Olympus rally.
Since we're from Colorado, we're trying to cut down on diesel expenses and will be leaving the car in Washington for a few weeks between the events. Billy has volunteered to help crew for us at the GRC event, but he'll be running in the rally. Since we're having to fly back out for the rally, we're unable to have a few crew members hop in our truck for the journey, so I'm wondering if anyone might be available to help us out for the weekend.
Would be great to have someone on hand who's crewed at a rally before so we're not all newbs, but any help is good help!
Thanks,
Dave

Crewing for a team is a bit different from volunteering as staff for the rally but both jobs are critical for the races to happen.
When I crewed for a team at Ojibwe Rally a few years back there were three of us who drove the service truck out to the remote service areas, set up camp, and got ready for the cars to roll in after being out on a few stages. Me being the newb, I cleaned up the windows & checked tire pressures & helped with tire swaps. Tghat night I also helped with a transmission swap.
Service crew work can be easy, or you could be called on to do your best MacGuyver and fix a problem with duct tape, ratchet extensions, & a bit of field engineering. Depending on the rally you may also get to check out a few minutes of action at a super special, but I have no idea how Olympus generally operates.
