Windshield broken. Any good shops out there?
Anyone know of any good priced glass places? I need to replace my windshield due to a rock chip. I was quoted 340 through one place. Any ideas? Thank you.

i used safelite.....282.00 and they came next day to my job and replaced it within an hour. No problems since. I used 'Lancer' glass instead of 'Evo' glass...its was like 30 bucks cheaper for the same thing, but you have an X.

The glass can't be thinner because the federal regulations required..... When I replaced mine I used a mobile service, Lindsey's Windshield (503) 774-8975. He's from Vancouver but drove to my garage when I lived in Beaverton at the time; on a Saturday, and the price couldn't be beat. Used really high quality sealers and stuff too. Been in business since '78, and I was really pleased.

The Evo glass is thinner, I believe its about 7lbs lighter. All the glass in the Evo is shaved. The Evo windshield from the dealer is almost $600 just for the glass. All aftermarket glass repair shops are going to be using the lancer glass. I would suggest just going with the standard lancer glass as it will not chip as easily, and you won't have to wait for it to be imported.

I called Mitsubishi, only showed one part number for the Evo and lancer. Could you post the different part numbers? He also told me this is the case all the way up to 2010. I think the whole safety factor comes in on lighten glass. It would be weaker. I found 260 so far.

i'd go with lancer glass if it's thicker. unless you are hardcore track, you won't notice 7 lbs (if it's really that much, and it'll be much more durable for day-to-day driving
