Most race teams use something large like Tial or Turbosmart. The HKS racing bov might be better than your SSQV, but might only be slightly better. Most people don't run it b/c it's $$$. I have the old school version HKS Racing Type-I bov and love it, but it's a completely different design.

the TiAL can prove tricky if you don't get the proper spring for your needs. I know a lot of people also like the APS.

I was thinking that as I posted, but I dont run one, so I wasnt sure how finicky they can be. APS is a good all around BOV it seems.

^if you nail the proper spring then they are great. Most people don't even realize the spring can be swapped and they get the wrong spring when they buy it. When I bought mine I wasn't told about the spring and it came with one that was two levels too stiff.

Yeah I know exactly what your car is doing. The HKS sounds uber cool to me, but partial throttle the car just acts really weird on the road course. Jared runs an APS bov recirculated on the road course and that car is nice and smooth. I would get an APS.

I run the APS as well and it really solved a lot of the issues I had with the Forge RS at the track (bucking at the wrong moments in corners). Bit hard to find and pricey but well worth it if you can get your hands on one.

I had a Forge too and it would buck hard...didn't like it all.

Yeah and this was after years spent adjusting it for both road and track use. Just got tired of it....

For me the stock Ix bov is the best and as long as you are under 27psi you will be fine. I have found power does not make you faster and really can make you slower.

Hope to get back up to Seattle soon.

Last time I was up there it was raining most of the day so never did get to see the full potential of my car and me.

The hks is one of the worst and others can do good but you have to mess with them to get them right.

Going from the Forge RS BOV to the stock IX BOV made all the difference in the world for me...

well, for me, more power doesn't get a faster laptime maybe my driving ability is still too young it doesn't make me slower. btw, so you said the stock is the best? That's kind of surprised but I'm not a professional so I will listen to your advice because you guys are professional right? I just wanna fix the problem of compressor surge. And also, I do agree with what you said, my hks blow off valve is really suck, i personally think it sounds cool, but it acts too weird~ Thx for your comment by the way and happy christmas

I would run a used APS if you can find one, or a new Cobb. The Cobb is basically the same design as the APS and a very nice part.

Did your car leave on the tow truck at one of the Alfa days? It seems every EVO that shows up with a Voltex kit and an HKS BOV valve mis-fires all the way down the front straight and then leaves early. I remember 3-4 doing that now.

Swapping out that valve will be a major improvement.

I use the Cobb xle. They market it for the Evo X but works fine with the 8-9. Rumor has it, that it was designed very similar to the APS.
