emissions testing Evo's

Going to be buying another (new to me) Evo 8 or 9 this summer. Probably will have quite a few mods and may not be emissions legal for King county. So I'm wondering what people have done to get through.
I think they only do the OBDII port scan and not a tail pipe sniffer. What mods have you guys had and passed the test?

I just took the test tuesday and passed with flying colors. Yes, they just OBDii check it to make sure there are not faults or engine codes as well as making sure all sensors work. No tail sniffer, no dyno. I also JUST put cams in and have a full exhaust.

I was talking to a technician there and he said last year a 70+ year old asain man came through with his "800 hp" red evo and also passed without a problem. So I don't think you will have any problems.

No check engine light, then you will be fine. That's all that matters

Not true. The readiness monitors need to complete their cycles too. If you've recently cleared codes or have a continuing problem, the readiness monitors wont set, and even though the light isn't on, it'll still get you a failure. FYI

Yes resetting the code before heading to emissions and have no light on but you will have a pending code for drive cycle incomplete. Would be the end result of doing that, but what I was referring to is if u never had a existing problem that shouldnt apply. I'm emission certified and would know.

Missed that We have a road race customer named Steve. Steve I believe is in his early 70s late 60s, has a red Evo that is a dead ringer for mine, so I thought it might have been him. He is not asian though either so apparently there is another 800whp red Evo out there

lol

Not really. I did my my smog last week and my car was rejected, not failed, due to the tune. I had a tuner tune my car before and the light came on for EGR. Another tuner turned the light off but did not completely turned off what needs to tuned off so the sensors won't read the cycle correctly and that's how it was rejected. I had the tuner patch the ROM so that everything that the OBDII will read it as everything works and that's how I passed.
