It wouldn’t be a GTX for sale add unless it starts with…..”A truly rare and now collectable car, the Mazda 323 GTX was a limited production run for Mazda to homologate and compete in the world rally championship. One of only 1265 cars sold in 1988 and 1989 to the North American market.” But you probably already know about this…try some Google for more information if not.
This car is, in my opinion, a nicer example of the platform, with a significant amount of work completed, adding to the value, collectability, and driving experience. Unlike most GTX’s around the country, this one has ALWAYS been a Pacific Northwest vehicle so there is little to no rust at all on the chassis. These considerations, in addition to the vehicles modification list, and comprehensive package of 3 sets of wheels and tires, spares, and extra parts, make this a package deal, turn key GTX enthusiasts dream.
It has a clean title, however it shouldn’t. I’ve owned the car since 2003 when I “saved it”, purchased it damaged at auction and repaired. It had a fairly minor front end impact which damaged the hood, driver’s side fender, headlight assembly, and grille. The inner core support in this area is original just pounded back into shape. I am the second owner to my knowledge. I met the first owner at the Oregon Trail Rally when he spotted his old car and flagged me down and introduced himself. He was overjoyed to see that I had saved it and put it back on the road.
The car had around 143K on it and was in 100% stock condition (rare for a GTX) and became my daily driver for a few years. I began modifying the car with appropriate mods and after a few thousand miles of 15psi, it blew a head gasket. This prompted the complete rebuild of the motor and further modifications to make it what it is today. It was retired from daily driving about 5 years ago and I’ve only put under 4000 miles on it since. It’s proven to be reliable, for a car that is 21 years old. That being said, there are currently, and typically always have been areas that should get attention. Each time something popped up, I tried to fix/restore it properly. There are many areas of the car I haven’t touched, like brakes, bushings, body, etc.
Reason for selling, simply motivated to build and modify my other project cars. Selling will free up space and budget for my other automotive pursuits. I’m motivated to sell to someone who appreciate, understands, and will take care of this great car. Car holds a ton of sentimental value for me and is really a joy to drive.
Contact me by phone or email for the fastest response. You’ll need a truck to take everything with you at the time of transfer. Between all the wheels/tires, seat, and tubs of spares, it’s a lot of stuff.
Price is $5500.00 OBO with everything listed included plus more. NO part outs, but I might be willing to keep some items to help lower the price…everything is negotiable if you are buying the car.
Comments/questions welcome…please bump my thread if you like these cars!
Thanks, Keith
