Porsche 911 4g63 swap, again
Life is going great. Sorry for the long post. Well now it is time to finally build something fun. Both kids are grown and one has moved out. I have had 3 Bad A$$ Evo, two Evo’s were VIII and one IV. I sold my last Evo to by a 1999 Porsche 911. Last October I was in a bad auto accident where I totaled the Porsche, I only had the car 5 months. I made out with insurance money and bought a 2002 911 Turbo. I found the turbo while I was in the trauma center for 3 days.
In February of this year I was able to by a 1999 740 I BMW from a friend of mines family. The car owner was the late Ryan Dunn I met Ryan back in 2001 filming a BMX video for Little Devil Clothing Co.
Now for the fun Build, I bought a 1987 Porsche 911 Cab for $600.00 minus motor and trans, the rear quarters were cut off. The guy that owned it was trying to put a fiberglass body kit on it. I was able to get him to sell the car only for $600.00 it does have a salvage title but I don’t care. Now I did have Evo’s before and some very fast ones back in the day. Then I remembered when I lived in Philly, I met a guy by the name o Eric Plebani who put a dsm 4g63 in his 911. So why should I put the original Porsche motor in it, why not the 4g63. So the fun begins I stripped the entire interior out ripped up all the old installation going to re paint the inside and spry under coat and new sound/heat mats. Interior is in great shape. The convertible needs minor work. The 4g63 is ideal, it’s a lot smaller, faster, cheaper and better on gas. There is no cutting or welding to the frame. I made a bracket the bolts the original motor mount and uses the original 4g63 motor mount. The Porschubishi will have the Evo wiring harness and managed by AEM EMS. The other great thing I will have street rod tags NO EMMISSION (1987) J I am hoping to have the car painted and running by the end of July. The Porschubishi will be going to the body shop for the body work and rear quarters this week. Here are some pictures I will keep you posted. As for the haters who cares what you think it’s my car my build. I had Evo’s I have a Turbo Porsche 911. Just wish Ryan could see this one lol.

Awesome. The whole idea of it makes me happy, curious to see the engineering solutions you come up with along the way. Too bad it was a cab, but 600$ is a score! Good luck and thanks for sharing!

Definitely going to keep track of this, sounds like an exciting build.
How does the 4G63's weight compare to the stock flat 6? Would the 4G63 move the weight balance even further back due to being longer?

Such a cool project.
God forbid anybody from any of the Porsche forums like 6speedonline see this; this would be so blasphemous for them to hear about.
I always wanted to do some sort of weird swap.
BTW, what about the drivetrain........are you planning on making it AWD too?
