Mountain Bike - Outlander Sport

Hi,

Can anyone confirm or deny if a mountain bike fits in the back with rear seats down. I would take the front wheel off with the quick release. My bike is a medium frame. Wondering if it fits, or need roof racks or a hitch.

Thanks

I think it does. See the comments on this blog post (not the article itself, as it talks about the bigger Outlander). Someone wrote about their experience with the Outlander Sport with two bikes.

Yes you can... if its a 26" then you dont even have take off the front wheel you just have to angle the bars/wheels.. for a 9er you have to take off the front wheel to fit it.. a road bike also fits just like the 26".... or you can just do what i did

My 26" fits with the front wheel removed, but it's a bit cramped. I'm using a SeaSucker now.

HA HA HA HA HA AH!!!!

Now that is ingenious!
I love it.
But, I'm not sure we can get away with that here... not on the expressways at least.

Thanks for the laugh

PS: What's that cable for hanging to the side of your vehicle?

You can also put it on the roof. The cable secures the bike and the rack from thieves. I'm now using a metal that you clip on the passenger window.

I've just looked up this seasucker deal, I love how discrete it is. There's one set up called The Hornet which mounts to the back hatch. I much prefer that location than the front windshield which obscures your view while driving haha.

Only concern is stress on the rear window, that's exactly how they get windows out so I dunno...

That's ingenious! I have the roof kit for mine... Thule... from the dealership... weird thing.. I ordered the Cross Bars/Mounting kit and a bike rack for cheaper than it was to go aftermarket... All Thule.. It was nice!

I thought about the Hornet, but given how tight traffic can be in Manila, I went with the Mini Bomber.

I really want to be completely comfortable with this method but I can't stop thinking about a vacuum pad failure or the entire window popping out and my expensive, yet to be bought bike bouncing around behind me or worse, down the freeway or through the windshield of another driver.

@pipefish yours looks less prone to complete failure seeing as it has 4 vacuum pads, I wonder what it does to your paint over time, there's going to be a fair amount of flex in our thin body skin.

I don't think I could relax while driving. I love it yet it scares me for so many reasons.

My problem is that my car didn't come with the roof rails so I either have to get a full roof rack and then a bike rack or the rear hitch plus bike rack.
