Holy...
That is Harbin (China, border of Russia) weather!

I really don't think a body suit would help in that situation...

I was pleasantly surprised at how well the OS "recovered" another vehicle. Obviously, with such a fragile trans, this won't be a frequent event, but with such arctic temps, I felt compelled to lend a hand.

Alright, my man..
That's the way to show those Nissans what's what.
You deserve a pat on the back and a 6-pack of your fav beer! Saved those poor soul(s) from getting their butts frozen over.

Honestly, I think as long as we don't go towing horse/cattle trailers all day long, our trans will hold up just fine.

Thinking of picking up one of these... Seems decent for the price.
Air compressor, USB charger, jump cable.....

Not to shabby

The problem with jump-packs like those, are that you have to make sure they're charged and accessible when you need them.

Mine has a warning to not let it freeze aka not leave it in the vehicle. Apparently they expect you to bring it into the house with you and back to the vehicle every trip.

Sure enough I left mine in there for a couple months and -30+C when I needed it, it couldn't boost anything.

This is not an stereo amp..

Even at those specs for 12V, you're looking at less than 100Amps of cranking power. That's okay, IF you're trying to jump start a kids go-cart.
Lame.

Very true.
You need to keep them charged with an wall outlet, when not in use.

But, I guess if you just plan to carry them in inclement weather (and not stored in your vehicle ALL the time) then that's fine. However, that kind of defeats the purpose of having it as a "constant" backup/for emergencies...

Finally, now that my hitch is installed..

I can add this to my Emergency kit >

@Burtonrider,
But, I think your D-Ring looks/is much beefier than the one I got. Is your's a solid stock (no welds) or hollow tubing?

Amazing how the year passes..
It's that time again - Big Storms are acoming...

Our first crazy (Wind) storm that just blew by yesterday. Straight line winds topping 80MPH.
Knocked down a bunch of trees everywhere in Dallas.
Our 30 year old pear tree couldn't take.
Had to whip out the old axe and chop it down to firewood.

Plus, power was out in our neighborhood/section of town for more than 10 hours...
Luckily we have backup power at our house.

PSA : gas generators

For anyone who's running a gas generator, make sure to check your oil level and place it at far AWAY from windows and door(s) as possible (at least 25ft or more). CO gas are deadly.
