Oil Viscosity
Hello all. My question concerns whether it is safe to use something other than 0W-20 oil in my wife's 2013 Outlander Sport, such as 5W-20. We live in Florida if that makes any difference. I'm also wondering if a full synthetic is needed, or if a synthetic blend is acceptable, whatever the grade.
Thanks for your comments.

I had the same conversation with my dealership. They offer both the 5w20 and 0w20 and they said that if you use the 5w20 you need to come in earlier for maintenance.
Thats fine and dandy but in my owners manual it says the oil grade is 0w20. Nowhere does it specify another grade.
I am no expert but if its not in the manual it might be risky to use another grade. Anyone else?

There's a thread all about oil for our O.sports in basic maintenance. The CliffNotes on it is to stick with 0W20 for best MPGs & use full syn for "longer" change intervals.
