I have noticed that if I leave the temperature gauge on hot or cold with the fan OFF while driving at speed, you can feel the air coming through the vents is whatever you set the temperature to. Could this be the cause for poor fuel economy?

I have not noticed that occurring.

Guess you could remove the fuse or the relay to the A/C compressor and see if there's a change.

I asked about this at the dealer, and was told that when the HVAC is OFF, press the recirculating button (middle of the left knob), which will close off the outside air intake, and nothing will come out of the vents.


It works.

Everyone please reread the original post. The problem is not air flowing through the vents, that is normal. The problem is the HEAT or AC still being on. I'm going to stop here so you two can reread the post.

So on say a cold day you can feel heat coming from the vents if it's set to warm and blower off and on a hot day you can feel cold coming from the vents if it's set to ac and the blower off?

On DOESN'TMATTERWHATTEMPURATURE it is day, the natural flow of air coming through the vents while at speed, will be the temperature of whatever you have your temperature setting on with the FAN OFF.

every car i have owned does this when its pulling air from the outside. its not like having the AC or heat on, but the temp knob does change how the air feels since its passing through the system just like if it was on with the blower.
