broken tail light
Hey guys just noticed a broken tail light
I dont have any idea how this got broken , it looks like the corner of the lens hit the tail light when the tail gate was closed .
I did a ebay search and couldnt find them . I found the regular tail light but not the ones on the tailgate , I tried reverse lights , backup lights ,tailgate lights and nothing . Anyways ..does anyone know what the hell they call these lights? Or better yet any body have one ?

That's annoying..
Well, I'm not sure it's worth $80 from ebay to get this replaced.
But, you could just use some plastic/bondo to form the missing bit, spray it will a little red paint and then add a strip of red tinted film to seal&bend it with the rest of the housing.
I'm sure you have most of all the materials (above) on hand.
Just a thought.
Either that or call a local salvage yard and have them pull you the full set for maybe $20 cash.

Like I said - maybe a factory flaw. True story. Years ago my wife had a Mazda 323. One morning the rear hatch glass exploded. Dealer blamed her; said never heard of it, blah, blah. I called a few dealers in the province and lo and behold there were many reports of such a thing. Mazda replaced the glass free!

I'll have to bookmark this in the back of my mind, if I ever see/notice a chip in our tail len(s).

OP,
You might want to hold off in getting it DIY-ed or replaced on your own (too soon).

yep - but save the broken part and any receipts if you do replace it.
paid ~$1500 for a ACD hydraulic pump and install by Mitsu dealer for the Evo.
two months later, they extended the warranty on it, and Mitsu cut me a check for the full amount. i was pretty impressed by that.

For 5 bucks worth of plastic... It would be cheaper to buy an entire light assembly off Aliexpress than pay the dealer price. Crazy. But save your bills - this might turn out to be a warranty item!

We had to go to the dealership yesterday to get OS #2 inspected . I had the service writer come out and take a look at the tail light , he said it was very odd and noticed that it had been touching the outer light . He took some pictures and is sending to Mitsu so lets see what happens
