OS/RVR OEM Rims for Winters?

Anyone using their original OEM 12 spoke rims for winters? My current winters are on rusting steel rims (never buying those again!) and I thought I would swap my winters over to the OEM rims and buy a cool set of summer rims. Mostly black etc. to go with the white car.

You could try seeing what you can get from salvage yards in some other brand of wheels.
Hyundai Sante Fe, Sonata, etc. 18's are easy to come by in our bolt pattern. 5 on 5x114-ish... You should have a pretty good choice of what you could get.

I'm Rollin on these for the winter 16" with Firestone Winterforce 215/70/16.
And I live in a snowy snowy place.
The runs aren't that pricey at all. Better than rusting steel ones.

My stocks are the 18" and I just powder coated them gunmetal to go with my grey RVR

I have posted recently in another thread a list (with pictures) of OEM 16", 17", and 18" wheels with specs:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ou...-old-rims.html.
They are made by Enkei for Mitsubishi and can be had very cheap on Craigslist or other local trade place (I bought my entire set for $150 Canadian).

18s are the last thing I would use for snows!

I'm using the OEM rims for winter. This will be the 3rd winter with them and they've been great. Nothing beats OEM quality especially with all the salt and grime we get here.

OEM means Enkei, as they are made by them for Mitsubishi. I agree concerning the longevity remark, the rims I am using now are from a 2003-2006 Ralliart and most likely have seen few winters here in Montreal. They look still fine. Contrarily, I bought new OEM steel wheels three years ago for my new car (that time) and used them for three winters. They started to show some rust. So after buying the alloy rims I sold the steel wheels (with TPMS) and came out positive from the swap (of course I lost money by opting for the steel wheels in the first place). Now at least I do not have to look at them any more.
Some people still believe that steel wheels are better for winter (or rather cheaper).

You save about 100-150 CAD on steel over alloy. False economy; won't ever do it again. My last set look like crap after two winters, and I take great care of them. Maybe if they were powder coated...

Thanks for the real life evaluation Terrance! Maybe if I find a few hundred extra bucks, I'll get new summer rims and move the snows over to the OEM rims and sell the steelies (for maybe a hundred bucks for 4?)

Just keeping with the stock wheel size is all I was getting at.
I used 17's on my last ride only because I couldn't get a smaller wheel to fit with my brake kit or suspension. I personally prefer a size smaller wheel for snow tires (or 2) but I don't see anything wrong with running the stock size wheel either.
If it's a smaller size that wanting to be ran then the same info would apply.
There's lots of OEM wheels that look nice from plenty of manufacturers out there. C-list or local yards, garage sales, etc. should have plenty to chose from.

I personally will turn my wifes 18's off her 14 Big O, into a set of winter wheels with snow tires and give her my new version 18's.

I'm about to put on my set of winter tires for the first time. They're 215/70R16 Winterforce tires mounted on Crown Vic P71 steel wheels I had laying around. I Plasti-dipped the wheels so I shouldn't have a rusting problem. The Crown Vic wheels have the same bolt pattern and fairly close offset. I did have to buy M12x1.50 collared lug nuts so I could use generic center caps on them.

Ah Ha.... That explains your look for the smaller wheels.
