Cleaning ABS Speed Sensors?

After the other week's CHECK ENGINE light issue involving ABS light coming on, I have noticed that on occasion the ABS light will stay on a bit. Sometimes. Has not triggered the engine lamp though.

Anyone ever clean their wheel speed sensors? Since there is no code stored I am hesitant to take it to the stealership. I thought when I do the spring tire changeover I could check - starting with cleaning the rear wheels, since those sensors apparently do not get as much washing as the fronts. Any tips/hints/warnings?
